If you are unable to get the digital tape measure to run along with the lines you'd like, for instance, you wish the lines to run like this:

But instead, it went like this:

this is caused by the wrong setting of the camera angle.  All you have to do is adjust the avatar so that the line you want the digital tape measure to run through is horizontal to the camera view and this will get you the correct result.
